Lucy Thompson : ウィキペディア英語版 | Lucy Thompson
Lucy Thompson (1856–1932) is an author known for her 1916 ''To the American Indian: Reminiscences of a Yurok Woman.'' She wrote the book to preserve her people's stories. The book received the American Book Award decades later.〔(Native American Authors Project )〕 Outside the book she is known to have come from "Yurok aristocracy" and be married to a white man named Milton "Jim" Thompson. Hence she had some intention to make sympathetic whites understand her people better〔(New perspectives on native North America: cultures, histories, and ... by Sergei Kan, Pauline Turner Strong, Raymond Fogelson, pgs 215-217 )〕 although she also criticized "whites" for practices like over-fishing.〔(When worlds converge: what science and religion tell us about the story of ... pg 244 )〕 == References == 〔
